2500 Penn, a Placemakr Experience Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to 2500 Penn, a Placemakr Experience, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical hotel setup. It’s actually more like an extended-stay concept that’s been thoughtfully designed for people who want to feel settled rather than just passing through. The building sits right on Pennsylvania Avenue — and I mean literally on one of DC’s most recognizable streets — which honestly makes you feel pretty connected to the pulse of the city from the moment you arrive.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot in Washington — you’re in Foggy Bottom, which means you’re close enough to everything that matters but not drowning in tourist chaos. The Kennedy Center is basically a pleasant walk away, and you can actually reach the Lincoln Memorial without feeling like you need to plan an expedition. What really struck me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — there’s something about being able to stroll along the Potomac or duck into cozy Georgetown spots that just works for romantic getaways. The parking situation here is honestly a game-changer too, since finding a spot in DC usually feels like winning the lottery.
The Room Experience
The room setup is where this place really differentiates itself from standard hotels. You’re getting more of an apartment feel with actual living space to spread out, which — let’s be real — makes a huge difference when you’re staying more than a night or two. The kitchen isn’t just some tiny corner with a mini-fridge; it’s actually functional enough that you could cook a proper meal if you wanted to skip another restaurant bill. I mean, the three-star rating might not scream fancy, but the thoughtful design and extra space definitely punch above that level.
What Makes It Special
You know what really sets this place apart? It’s that Placemakr concept — they’ve figured out how to make extended stays feel less like living in a hotel and more like having a temporary home base. The staff actually seems to understand that people staying here might be in town for work projects, apartment hunting, or just wanting to really explore DC without feeling rushed. There’s this relaxed vibe that you don’t always get at traditional hotels where everything feels designed to move you in and out quickly.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, the location score speaks for itself — when couples are rating it 9.1, that tells you something about how this spot just works for people who want to experience DC properly. You’re not stuck in some tourist bubble, but you’re also not so far out that getting to the monuments becomes a whole production. The combination of having your own space, being on Pennsylvania Avenue, and having that parking situation sorted out — well, it just removes a lot of the usual DC travel stress. It’s the kind of place where you can actually settle in and explore the city like you live here, even if it’s just for a few days.

Ivan from United Kingdom (9/10)
Very comfortable, clean, stylish and modern accommodation in an excellent location suitable for business or tourist visitors.
It's five minutes walk from Georgetown, fifteen to Dupont Circle, twenty to the Whitehouse and thirty to the Washington Monument.
It's a minimal service hotel so what you get is a very smart reception and public lounge area with really helpful and friendly staff and a nice room where everything works but not much else apart from some meeting rooms and a small terrace so if you're looking for a place with a bar, restaurant and bellhops and so on then maybe this is not for you. The King Studio's are very large and suitable for longer stays.
Apart from that, there is a Trader Joe's very conveniently right across the street from where you can get groceries and, aside from a very decent little Thai place right next door, as many bars and eating places as you could possibly want just short stroll away in Georgetown.
One tip is that the DC Circulator bus runs every 10 minutes and has stops very close by that will get you to and from Downtown and Union Station for one single, solitary dollar. Another is that Foggy Bottom Metro is less than ten minutes walk away from where the Silver Line runs frequently to and from Dulles Airport for $6.75.Alan from Canada (9/10)

Everything was as expected. Hot, hot shower. Just what we needed for a 4 night stay. In town for a World convention and several other attendees had apartments rented as well. Short walk to Starbucks. I will stay here again with my husband next time.
