AKA White House Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to AKA White House on H Street, you immediately get why this four-star property has such a stellar reputation. I mean, the location alone — you’re literally a stone’s throw from the White House, which honestly never gets old. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels more like an upscale residence than a typical hotel, and that’s exactly what they’re going for with the extended-stay concept.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about staying in Washington — location is everything, and this place absolutely nails it. You’re in the heart of downtown, walking distance to the White House (obviously), but also super close to Dupont Circle and all those great restaurant along Connecticut Avenue. What I really appreciate is how you can actually walk to most of the major monuments and museums, which saves you from dealing with Metro delays or expensive Ubers. The couples who stay here seem to love it — and I get it, there’s something pretty romantic about strolling to the Lincoln Memorial at sunset.
The Room Experience
The room situation here is where AKA White House really shines. These aren’t your standard hotel rooms — they’re more like furnished apartments with full kitchen (which is a game-changer if you’re staying more than a few nights). The beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel marketing comfortable, but actually sleep-through-the-night comfortable. I’ve stayed in plenty of places where the bed feels like a brick, but these ones have that perfect balance of support and softness. The kitchen setup is surprisingly well-equipped too, so you can actually cook a decent meal if you want to skip another overpriced restaurant dinner.
Practical Perks
You know what’s refreshing? They have on-site parking, which in downtown DC is basically like finding a unicorn. Sure, it’s not cheap, but when you consider what you’d pay for street parking (if you could even find it) or garage fees elsewhere, it’s worth it. The staff here actually knows the neighborhood — they’ll give you real recommendations, not just the touristy spots everyone suggests. Plus, the building feels secure and quiet, which matters when you’re trying to decompress after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both central and peaceful. You’re in the thick of everything politically and culturally significant about DC, but when you come back to your apartment-style space, it’s like having your own little retreat. The combination of that prime location, genuinely comfortable accommodations, and the flexibility of having a full kitchen makes it perfect for both business travelers and tourists who want something more than just a place to crash. Honestly, once you experience staying somewhere this well-positioned with this level of comfort, going back to a regular hotel room feels pretty limiting.
To book hotel in Washington for Cherry Blossom peak, travelers claim Tidal Basin terraces blending dawn paddle boats with lantern-lit monument strolls.

The location is fantastic – very close to the White House, the mall and many coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Close to the Metro. The room was huge and accommodated our group very well, giving us a living room and kitchen to gather in.
