The Navy Yard area has really transformed over the past few years, and you’re close enough to catch a Nationals game if you’re into baseball. What I love is that couples seem to get this location — they consistently rate it over 9 out of 10, and I can see why. It’s romantic without being touristy, if that makes sense.

The Room Experience

The room design is where citizenM really shows off. Everything’s controlled through this tablet system — lights, temperature, even the TV. It took me a minute to figure out, but once you get it, it’s actually pretty cool. The beds are massive and incredibly comfortable, though the rooms themselves are compact. You know what though? They’ve maximized every inch of space so cleverly that it never feels cramped. The floor-to-ceiling windows give you great city views, and the rainfall shower is surprisingly spacious for such an efficient layout.

Dining & Social Spaces

The restaurant and bar area downstairs gets pretty lively, especially during happy hour when you’ll find a mix of locals and travelers. The buffet breakfast is solid — nothing groundbreaking, but they’ve got all the essentials plus some nice touches like fresh pastries and decent coffee. What I really appreciate is how the common areas encourage interaction without forcing it. There are quiet corners if you want to work, but also these communal spaces where you might end up chatting with someone interesting.

This place works because it gets modern travel — you want style and comfort, but you don’t need someone carrying your bags or turning down your sheets.   Our room was amazing. The bar area was great. Hannah was so helpful and very nice. There was another young man who Hannah was working with. He was awesome at the bar. Both of these employees very personal made our stay extra nice. We were celebrating our anniversary it all was perfect.
