Hilton Garden Inn Alexandria Old Town National Harbor Overview
First Impressions
The Hilton Garden Inn Alexandria Old Town National Harbor sits right on Prince Street, and honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better spot to explore Alexandria‘s historic charm. This three-star property might not be the fanciest place in town, but it gets the fundamentals absolutely right — I mean, when couples are rating the location 8.7 out of 10, you know they’ve found something special. The building itself has that clean, modern Hilton Garden Inn aesthetic that feels familiar without being boring.
Location & Neighborhood
What really sets this place apart is how walkable everything is from here. You’re literally steps away from Old Town’s cobblestone streets, and I love that you can stroll down to the waterfront without dealing with any of the DC traffic nonsense. The King Street Metro station is close enough that getting into Washington proper is actually pretty painless — something that matters when you’re trying to pack a lot into a short trip. Plus, there’s parking right at the hotel, which honestly feels like a small miracle in this area.
The Room Experience
Here’s where this hotel really shines — the beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. I’ve stayed in plenty of places where they claim great sleep, but guests consistently rave about the beds here, and I get why. The room setup is smart too, with that signature Garden Inn layout that gives you a proper workspace and a mini-fridge that’s actually useful. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything works the way it should, which is more than you can say for a lot of places.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast situation here is actually pretty solid — they’ve got the usual continental spread, but what I appreciate is how they handle dietary restrictions. Vegetarian options, gluten-free choices, and even breakfast to go if you’re the type who likes to grab something and explore early. The restaurant on-site covers your basic needs, though honestly, with Old Town right outside your door, you’d be missing out if you didn’t venture out for at least a few meals. The variety of dining options within walking distance is part of what makes this location work so well.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel you’ll ever stay in, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re traveling. Recent guests have been rating the location nearly 9 out of 10, and that’s not just because it’s central — it’s because you can walk to the Metro, stroll along the Potomac, grab dinner at a dozen different spots, and still feel like you’re in a real neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble. The staff seems to get that most people are here to explore Alexandria and DC, not hang out in the lobby, so they focus on making sure your room is a comfortable home base. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Spouse became ill and asked Front Desk for another night in same room. That room was already booked but we were booked into another room immediately. Two young ladies at the Front Desk (I did not get their names) helped us with this issue. It was very much appreciated.

It is dog friendly and we brought our 2 dogs with us. The hotel has a roof top area for guests to relax. The cook in the dining room is great and went out of his way to bring food we ordered to us as the
dogs are not allowed in dining areas.Tanisha from United States (7/10)
Although a pillow case had blood on it, Tenee, at the front desk, came right away with two pillows and took the other away.
