Here’s what I love about where this place sits — you’re close enough to the action that you can walk to the Metro, but far enough from the tourist chaos around the National Mall that you actually feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might hang out. The Dupont Circle area has this great mix of embassies, cafes, and late-night spots that give you a real sense of what Washington is like beyond the monuments. Plus, there’s parking right at the hotel, which anyone who’s tried to drive in D.C. will tell you is basically a small miracle.

The Room Experience

I’ll be straight with you — the room isn’t huge, but it’s thoughtfully designed in a way that makes the space work. What really stood out to me was the bed situation. The hotel’s restaurant, Firefly, has this cozy bistro feel that works whether you’re grabbing a quick breakfast or settling in for dinner with wine. What I appreciated was that it doesn’t feel like typical hotel dining — you’ll actually see locals coming in from the neighborhood, which is always a good sign. The bar area becomes this nice little social hub in the evenings, and the staff seems to know their cocktails, which matters more than you might think when you’re trying to unwind after a day of meetings or sightseeing.

  I can not say enough good things about Madera. Staff are so kind and helpful, all of them, but specially Jorge and Essam, who happend to be on duty on most days during my stay. The hotel is super clean, with specious rooms and at a premium location. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a stay in DC.

  We loved the fresh air from the large balcony window. The front desk personnel were warm and welcoming. The location was great — there are lots of good restaurant around Dupont Circle, and we were close to many Metro lines that we used to go everywhere quickly and easily.

  Even though I found the prices to be a bit high, the food was good, the cofee great and server, Majeed (MJ) excellent! I also had happy hour and Patrick was also wonderful, bbq rib small plate, was yummy. Other kind, helpful staff members where Karen, Jenny, Tina, Marisa , Jorge, As well as the bellboys and Housekeeping; everybody had a friendly smile and helpful attitude. The teas/coffee in the room plus bathrobes and toiletry items and water bar on each floor were pleasant surprises.
