Residence Inn Arlington Capital View Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Residence Inn Arlington Capital View, you immediately get that extended-stay vibe — but in the best possible way. This three-star property feels more like a well-appointed apartment building than a traditional hotel, which honestly makes perfect sense given its location in Arlington. The lobby’s clean and modern without trying too hard, and the staff actually seems to know what they’re doing when you check in.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about this spot on South Potomac Avenue — it’s one of those locations that looks random on a map but works brilliantly in practice. You’re close enough to DC that the commute doesn’t kill you, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually breathe. The Crystal City area has really come into its own lately, and you’ll find yourself walking to decent restaurants and that massive underground shopping situation when the weather’s terrible. Couples seem to get this location particularly well — I mean, there’s something nice about having space to spread out while still being connected to everything.
The Room Experience
The room setup here is what sets this place apart from your typical hotel stay. You get a proper kitchenette with a full-size fridge, which sounds small but changes everything when you’re staying more than a night or two. The beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel marketing comfortable, but the kind where you actually sleep well. The living area gives you space to work or just exist without feeling cramped, and honestly, after staying in too many tiny hotel rooms, having a couch that’s not attached to the bed feels like a small miracle.
Practical Perks
The breakfast situation is solid American fare — think eggs, bacon, the usual suspects, but done well enough that you’ll actually want to eat it. It’s buffet style, so you can load up before a long day of meetings or sightseeing. Parking is included, which in this area is basically like getting free money — anyone who’s tried to park around here knows what I’m talking about. The fitness center and pool area are decent sized, nothing fancy but they get the job done when you need to burn off some energy.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is how it handles the balance between hotel service and apartment-style independence. You get housekeeping and front desk support when you need it, but you also have the space and amenities to live a bit more normally. Business travelers seem to particularly appreciate having a proper workspace and kitchen facilities, while couples enjoy the extra room to spread out. The location keeps getting high marks because it’s genuinely useful — close to Metro stops, reasonable Uber rides to downtown, and surrounded by the kind of neighborhood amenities that make a longer stay actually pleasant rather than just bearable.
Washington hotels keep guests close to Smithsonian galleries, Michelin tasting rooms, and Potomac riverfront bike lanes.

I left my smartwatch in my room when I checked out. I realized it as soon as I got to the airport. I called the hotel and told them where I left it. By the time I landed home I had a voice-mail stating they found my watch. I emailed them the shipping label and my watch made it quickly and safely back to my hands!!!! THANK YOU!!!

We had a problem with our reservation, and the staff was amazing. Everyone helped us. The breakfast was really good and all the rooms had a little kitchen so you can cook.

Very nice hotel and facilities. Everything new and top notch. Room surprising large. Staff great, helpful and professional. Breakfast excellent. Location is on the quieter end of Crystal City so it’s a few blocks’ walk to restaurants, shops and subway train. However, great for DCA access and if you’re a cyclist, it’s very close to 2 amazing trails, the W&OD and Mount Vernon Trail.
