Residence Inn by Marriott Washington, DC National Mall Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Residence Inn by Marriott Washington, DC National Mall, you immediately get that extended-stay vibe — but in the best possible way. This three-star property sits right in Southwest Washington, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby feels modern without being stuffy, and there’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try to be fancier than it needs to be.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally steps from the National Mall, but you’re not paying those insane downtown hotel prices. The Southwest Waterfront has transformed over the past few years, and this hotel landed right in the sweet spot. You can walk to the Smithsonian museums without dealing with Metro transfers, and The Wharf (with all its restaurants and waterfront views) is just a quick stroll away. Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.0, which honestly makes sense when you realize how much you’ll save on transportation.
The Room Experience
What sets this place apart is that every room is actually a suite with a full kitchen. I mean, when you’re staying in DC for more than a night or two, having a real fridge and stovetop changes everything. The living areas are spacious enough that you don’t feel cramped, and the separate bedroom setup works well whether you’re here for business or leisure. The kitchenette comes fully equipped — not just a microwave and mini-fridge situation, but actual cooking capabilities if you want to skip the restaurant scene for a night.
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast here surprised me — it’s a proper full English/Irish buffet setup, not just pastries and coffee. They’ve got hot options that’ll actually fuel you for a day of museum hopping or business meetings. And you know what’s rare in this part of DC? They have parking available right at the hotel. Trust me, if you’re driving into the city, this detail will save you both money and headaches. Most places around here either don’t have parking or charge ridiculous daily rates for it.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests have been rating this place 9.3 for location, and after staying here, I totally understand why. It’s that perfect balance of being close to everything without being in the chaos of downtown tourist central. The extended-stay setup means you get more space for your money, and the Southwest location puts you near some of DC’s newer developments while keeping the iconic sights within easy reach. For the price point and the amount of space you get, it’s honestly one of the smarter choices in the area — especially if you’re planning to stay more than just a quick weekend.

It is a good-sized two-bedroom family suite with a lounge area and a nicely appointed kitchen. Several blocks walk to a local supermarket. Slightly longer walk to the Washington Mall and the wharf area. A good selection of restaurants in the wharf area. Secure on-site parking for a fee. Lovely, helpful, friendly staff.
