Residence Inn Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Residence Inn Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard, you immediately notice how different this feels from your typical downtown hotel. This three-star extended-stay property sits in one of Washington‘s most rapidly evolving neighborhoods, and honestly, the energy here is infectious. The building itself has that modern, clean-lined look that fits perfectly with all the new development happening around Navy Yard — you know, the kind of place that feels fresh without trying too hard.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re literally a few blocks from Nationals Park, which means game days bring this incredible buzz to the area. But even when the Nats aren’t playing, there’s always something happening along the waterfront. The Navy Yard Metro station is practically next door, so getting to the Capitol or Smithsonian museums takes maybe 15 minutes. What really surprised me though was how walkable everything has become — there are actually decent coffee shops and restaurant popping up all around here, not just the usual chain stuff you’d expect near a ballpark.
Living Space That Works
The room setup here is where this place really shines, especially if you’re staying more than a night or two. Each suite comes with a full kitchen, which I mean, sounds basic but makes such a difference when you want to grab groceries instead of eating out every meal. The living area feels separate from the bedroom — not just some furniture crammed into a corner — so you can actually spread out and relax. Storage space is generous too, something you don’t always think about until you’re living out of a suitcase for a week.
Daily Comforts
The complimentary breakfast here goes beyond the usual continental setup — they’ve got hot options that’ll actually fuel you for a day of sightseeing. There’s also this evening social thing a few nights a week where they serve light snacks and drinks, which honestly creates a nice community vibe among guests. The fitness center is small but well-equipped, and there’s a decent-sized pool that’s perfect after walking around the monuments all day. Parking is available on-site, which in this part of DC is honestly a blessing — street parking around here can be a real headache.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back is how this place strikes that perfect balance between hotel service and apartment-style independence. The staff genuinely seems to care about making longer stays comfortable, and the location puts you right in the middle of DC’s most exciting transformation. Couples particularly seem to appreciate the space and the romantic waterfront walks just minutes away — there’s something special about watching the sunset over the Anacostia River that most tourists never discover. Plus, with that 9-star rating, you know other travelers have figured out what makes this spot work so well.
Washington’s hotels pair policy briefings, bourbon libraries, and concierge-led monument runs at sunrise.
