State Plaza Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the State Plaza Hotel feels like discovering one of those well-kept secrets that locals don’t really want to share. It’s a four-star property that sits quietly on E Street in Washington, and honestly — the location alone makes this place worth considering. You’re basically in the heart of everything without dealing with the chaos of the main tourist strips, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually enjoy the city.
The Location Sweet Spot
Here’s what I love about where this hotel sits — you can walk to the Kennedy Center in about ten minutes, the Lincoln Memorial is right there, and you’re close enough to Georgetown that you can stroll over for dinner without thinking twice about it. The Foggy Bottom Metro station is practically around the corner, so getting to the Smithsonian or Capitol Hill is ridiculously easy. Couples seem to get this immediately (they rate the location 9.2, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all), because there’s something romantic about being able to walk along the Potomac in the evening and then slip back to your hotel without any fuss.
The Room Experience
I’ll be straight with you — the beds here are genuinely comfortable, and I mean that in the best possible way. You know how some hotels talk up their bedding but you end up tossing and turning? Not here. The room setup is practical without being boring, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your stuff without feeling cramped. The windows give you decent views of the neighborhood, and the whole vibe is more “sophisticated business traveler” than “flashy tourist trap.”
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast situation is actually pretty impressive — they’ve got everything from continental basics to full English options, plus they handle dietary restrictions really well (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, the works). What really caught my attention though is that they have private parking right at the hotel, which anyone who’s tried to park in DC will tell you is basically like finding gold. I mean, not having to circle blocks looking for a spot or deal with street parking rules? That’s worth something right there.
Why Guests Love It
The thing about State Plaza Hotel is that it just works without trying too hard. Recent guests consistently rate it highly (8.5 overall), and you can see why — it’s professionally run, the staff knows what they’re doing, and you’re not paying for a bunch of amenities you’ll never use. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable, couples find it romantic enough for a weekend getaway, and families appreciate that everything functions smoothly. You’re not getting the flashiest hotel in Washington, but you’re getting one that delivers on what actually matters when you’re visiting the city.
Washington’s hotels pair policy briefings, bourbon libraries, and concierge-led monument runs at sunrise.

Was a excellent stay, great location and hotel.
Had plenty of space inside the room and bathroom
For breakfast there were good options to pick from, for not that big of a prize.
Location was also perfect since you are in close walking distance of the Lincon Memorial to start a day of walking around the Mall and other monuments/museums.
Also having a CVS right next door for snacks/drinks and in case you need some cash from a machine. Is a great thing for when u start your day or need something at night.Shakisha from United States (9/10)
I loved the fact they had a vanity area also a kitchen with stove and doors the separate from sleeping area. I was also able to light fire without alarm going off in kitchen area😉. We were located right across from dorms and restaurants and monuments and arena all was walking distance. Very clean. If you go on week end (Friday-Sunday):parking on street is free so u can park right in front for free instead of paying $45 a day with hotel. IM DEFINITELY COMING BACK!!!

Easy check in, at a good location with plenty of good food options nearby. Friendly staff and in particular its reassuring to see a doorman to offer help. Parking was available which is a plus for central Washington.
