The Quincy, Ascend Hotel Collection Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Quincy, Ascend Hotel Collection feels like discovering one of those well-kept secrets that locals don’t really want to share. This three-star boutique property sits right on L Street in Northwest Washington, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby has this understated elegance — not flashy, but you can tell someone put thought into every detail. It’s the kind of place where business travelers and couples seem equally at home, which actually says a lot about how they’ve managed to strike that balance.
Prime Downtown Location
You know what’s great about staying here? You’re literally in the heart of everything without feeling like you’re trapped in tourist central. The White House is just a few blocks away, and you can easily walk to Dupont Circle when you want that neighborhood vibe. I mean, couples rate the location 9.2 out of 10, and after spending time in the area, I totally get why. The Metro’s close enough that you don’t need to think twice about getting around, but you’re also in prime walking territory for most of the major sights. Plus, there are actually decent coffee shops and restaurant options within a block or two — not just the usual chain stuff you find near hotels.
The Room Experience
Here’s where The Quincy really surprised me — the beds are genuinely comfortable. I know that sounds basic, but you’d be amazed how many hotels mess this up. The room itself isn’t huge (this is downtown DC, after all), but it’s smartly designed with enough space to actually unpack and settle in. The bathrooms are clean and modern, and there’s decent lighting for getting ready — something I’ve learned to appreciate after too many dimly lit hotel mirrors. The whole setup feels more like a well-appointed urban apartment than a typical hotel room, if that makes sense.
Practical Perks
What I really appreciated were the little things that make a difference when you’re actually staying somewhere. The WiFi works properly throughout the building — not just in the lobby like some places. There’s a fitness center that’s small but has the basics covered, and the staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations. Parking is available, though honestly, you probably won’t need a car once you’re here. The front desk folks were helpful without being overly chatty, which is exactly what you want when you’re coming and going.
Why Guests Love It
The Quincy works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, well-located hotel that delivers on the basics while adding just enough character to feel special. The location score of 9.4 isn’t just marketing fluff — you really can walk to most of what you’d want to see in DC. Business travelers love it because it’s professional without being stuffy, and couples appreciate that it feels intimate rather than corporate. For the price point, you’re getting excellent value in a city where hotel costs can get pretty ridiculous pretty quickly.
Hotels near me in Washington deliver quick walks to Capitol hearings, Wharf concerts, and National Gallery night openings.

We stayed with my friends for only one night, but the room was super clean and very comfortable; I definitely recommend it for short trips. The hotel is located in a bussiness/office area in DC but not too far to walk around the main attractions.

The kitchen was extremely well kitted out, the room was very spacious, loved the Roku and the gym was good got a hotel (although I struggled to find it).
Ashley from United States (9/10)
Nice location, felt safe and within easy walking distance of metro, eateries and convenience store. Clean and very spacious room. Easy check in and out. Lockers for luggage storage were available and I used them both prior to check in and after check out. The air conditioning did break down for the last 2 days of my stay but fans were already available in the room, we received prompt communications on the status and staff were present during the day to hand out cold drinks. It was an unfortunate break down in a week of 80s-90s temps but I felt it was well managed
