The Royal Suite at Prince Street Inn Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to The Royal Suite at Prince Street Inn on a quiet stretch of Prince Street, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical hotel experience. It’s actually more like stepping into someone’s beautifully appointed townhouse — which, honestly, is exactly what makes this four-star property so special. The building has that classic Alexandria charm with its brick facade and understated elegance, but what really caught my attention was how intimate everything feels compared to those massive chain hotels you usually find.

The Suite Experience

The room itself — well, calling it a room doesn’t really do it justice. This is genuinely suite living, with separate spaces that actually make sense for longer stays or when you just want to spread out. The living area has these comfortable chairs where you can actually sit and read (not those stiff hotel chairs that look pretty but hurt your back), and the bedroom feels like a retreat from the city. I mean, the attention to detail here is something else — from the quality linens to the way natural light fills the space during the day.

Location Perfection

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re right in Old Town Alexandria, which means you can walk to King Street’s shops and restaurants in about ten minutes, but Prince Street itself is refreshingly quiet. No traffic noise keeping you up at night, you know? The couples who stay here consistently rave about this balance, and I totally get why they rated the location a perfect 10. You’re close enough to DC that a quick Metro ride gets you there, but far enough away that you feel like you’re in a completely different world.

Neighborhood Charm

What really makes this spot work is how it sits in the heart of Alexandria’s historic district without feeling touristy. You’ll find yourself walking past 18th-century houses on your way to grab coffee, and there’s this great little restaurant scene within a few blocks that locals actually frequent. The waterfront is maybe a fifteen-minute stroll, and honestly, that walk along the cobblestone streets never gets old. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area — it’s mostly street parking — but the inn helps coordinate that, which takes the stress out of it.

Why Guests Love It

The thing that keeps people coming back isn’t just the beautiful space or the prime location — it’s how the whole experience feels personal rather than corporate. The recent guest ratings speak for themselves, with that 9.5 location score reflecting what you actually experience when you stay here. You get the sophistication of a high-end hotel with the warmth of a boutique property, and that combination is surprisingly hard to find. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway or just want a peaceful base for exploring the DC area, this place delivers on the promise of something special without trying too hard to impress you.

Washington’s hotels pair policy briefings, bourbon libraries, and concierge-led monument runs at sunrise.

Location was great. Close to King St but quiet. I was able to find parking on the street in front of the building each night. The room was very comfortable and I loved the large historical windows. Alexandria is a charming town with a lot of thing to do close by or even a short drive away. I recommend the Shanandoah sky Drive.
