The St. Regis Washington, D.C. Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The St. Regis Washington, D.C. feels like stepping into the kind of place where history gets made over handshakes and champagne. This five-star property on 16th Street has that unmistakable old-money elegance — you know, the type where the marble gleams just so and the staff somehow knows your name before you’ve even checked in. I mean, you’re literally two blocks from the White House here, so the whole area just radiates this sense of importance that’s honestly pretty intoxicating.
Prime Location
The location is absolutely unbeatable — couples give it a 9.4 rating, and honestly, I get why. You’re in the heart of Washington with Lafayette Square right there, and you can walk to most of the major monuments without breaking a sweat. What I love is how you’re close enough to feel the pulse of the city, but the hotel itself creates this luxurious bubble where all that political chaos feels pleasantly distant. The Metro’s nearby too, which actually makes getting around way easier than dealing with D.C. traffic.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this perfect blend of classic St. Regis sophistication and modern comfort — think rich fabrics, marble bathrooms, and those little touches that remind you you’re somewhere special. The beds are ridiculously comfortable (seriously, I wanted to ask where they source their linens), and the views either look out toward the White House area or into the city. What really impressed me was the attention to detail — fresh flowers, quality toiletries, and that famous St. Regis butler service that feels indulgent without being stuffy.
Dining and Amenities
The restaurant serves solid American cuisine, and breakfast here is definitely worth experiencing at least once — it’s the kind of meal where you might spot a senator at the next table. The whole dining experience feels appropriately upscale for the setting. Parking is available right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend in this part of D.C. where finding a spot can be a nightmare. The fitness center and business facilities are exactly what you’d expect from a luxury property — well-equipped and always impeccably maintained.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this place isn’t cheap, but there’s something about staying here that makes you feel like you’re part of Washington’s inner circle, even if you’re just a tourist. The service is that perfect balance of attentive and unobtrusive, and the whole experience feels authentically luxurious rather than flashy. Sure, the 7.6 rating might seem modest for a five-star hotel, but I think that’s just D.C. guests being particularly discerning — the location score of 9.5 tells the real story. If you want to be in the absolute center of political Washington with all the luxury and history that comes with it, this is your spot.
The concierge service in Washington arranges White House neighborhood walks, private Smithsonian curators, and chauffeured briefings on Capitol Hill.

The hotel is well located and comfortable.
When we initially arrived on 13 December 2021 we found the Reception staff to not be welcoming or interested. We found we had no fridge in the room and were advised that this may be able to be provided at an extra cost. It was very difficult to get more than two sachets of coffee and very few toiletries were provided.
Our experience improved markedly after I tested positive for COVID. Mike, the Manager, was practical and helpful. The housekeeping staff were enormously supportive. We were well cared for in the remaining days in the hotel with ample access to coffee, toiletries, towels and concern. We were grateful for this.Nick from United States (8/10)
