The Location Advantage

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally a few blocks from Union Station, which means easy Metro access to anywhere in the city. The Capitol building is right there (I mean, it’s in the hotel’s name for a reason), and you can walk to the Supreme Court and Library of Congress without breaking a sweat. Couples seem to get this location thing figured out quickly — they’ve rated it 9.0, and I can see why. You know what’s nice? You can actually walk to dinner in Capitol Hill’s restaurant scene, then stroll back without dealing with DC traffic or parking headaches.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was what you’d expect from a solid four-star — clean lines, comfortable bed, and a work desk that actually works for getting things done. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything you need is there and done well. The windows in many rooms give you glimpses of the Capitol dome, which never gets old, honestly. The bathrooms are modern enough, and the Wi-Fi is reliable (crucial if you’re here on business, which many guests are).

The breakfast setup here is pretty comprehensive — they’ve got continental, American, and buffet options, plus breakfast to go if you’re rushing to a meeting on the Hill. I appreciated having choices because, well, some mornings you want to sit down with a proper meal, and other times you just need to grab something and run. The restaurant on-site handles the basics well, though with all the great dining options in the neighborhood, you might find yourself exploring beyond the hotel.

  The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. The Old Trolley Tour stop was in front of the hotel. The gym was nice.

  Helpful staff: our room was ready early, free luggage storage was provided from checkout time till train time, large sturdy loaner umbrellas were offered when needed.
  Some other reviews had mentioned having to deal with many homeless folks in the hotel area, but we didn't see any.
