Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, you immediately feel the energy of being right in the thick of things. This four-star hotel sits on New Jersey Avenue Northwest, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you’re here for business or want to explore the political heart of Washington. The lobby has that polished corporate feel you’d expect from Hyatt, but there’s something distinctly DC about it — you’ll spot staffers in suits grabbing coffee and tourists studying their Capitol tour maps.
The Location Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally a few blocks from Union Station, which means easy Metro access to anywhere in the city. The Capitol building is right there (I mean, it’s in the hotel’s name for a reason), and you can walk to the Supreme Court and Library of Congress without breaking a sweat. Couples seem to get this location thing figured out quickly — they’ve rated it 9.0, and I can see why. You know what’s nice? You can actually walk to dinner in Capitol Hill’s restaurant scene, then stroll back without dealing with DC traffic or parking headaches.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was what you’d expect from a solid four-star — clean lines, comfortable bed, and a work desk that actually works for getting things done. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything you need is there and done well. The windows in many rooms give you glimpses of the Capitol dome, which never gets old, honestly. The bathrooms are modern enough, and the Wi-Fi is reliable (crucial if you’re here on business, which many guests are).
Breakfast and Dining
The breakfast setup here is pretty comprehensive — they’ve got continental, American, and buffet options, plus breakfast to go if you’re rushing to a meeting on the Hill. I appreciated having choices because, well, some mornings you want to sit down with a proper meal, and other times you just need to grab something and run. The restaurant on-site handles the basics well, though with all the great dining options in the neighborhood, you might find yourself exploring beyond the hotel.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in DC, but it gets the fundamentals right in a location that’s hard to beat. Business travelers love being so close to government offices and Union Station, while tourists appreciate being able to walk to major sights without the tourist trap pricing of hotels closer to the National Mall. The fact that they have private parking on-site is actually a bigger deal than you might think — finding parking in this part of DC can be a real pain. At a 7.9 rating, it’s clearly hitting the mark for most people who stay here, and after experiencing it myself, I’d definitely consider coming back when I need to be in this part of the city.

All was great. Location was very close to where I needed to be and could commute very quickly to all points.
Carolyn from Canada (7/10)
Location was good. We were given a quiet room and although it was quiet from hotel noise (elevators and ice machine), there were still very noisy guests having full conversations in the hallways at all hours.
