Private Retreat Apartment in DC Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Private Retreat Apartment in DC, you immediately get the sense that this three-star spot is something different from your typical hotel experience. Located on a quiet residential street in Northwest Washington, it feels more like you’re staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than checking into a standard accommodation. The building has that classic DC charm — you know, the kind of place where you can actually imagine living rather than just passing through for a few nights.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is one of those hidden gems that couples seem to figure out before everyone else (they’ve rated it 8.8, which makes total sense). You’re in a genuine DC neighborhood here, not some touristy corridor lined with chain restaurants. The area feels residential and safe, with tree-lined streets that give you a real sense of what it’s like to actually live in the capital. What I really appreciate is having free private parking on-site — anyone who’s tried to park in DC knows this is basically like finding gold. You can easily reach the main attractions, but you’re tucked away enough to feel like you’ve escaped the constant buzz of downtown.
The Apartment Experience
This isn’t your standard hotel room setup, and that’s exactly the point. The space feels like a proper apartment retreat where you can actually spread out and settle in. There’s something refreshing about having real living space rather than being cramped into a typical hotel box. The furnishings strike that sweet spot between comfortable and stylish — nothing too fancy, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen. I mean, you can tell someone actually cares about the guest experience here rather than just checking boxes on a corporate checklist.
Practical Comforts
What really works about this place is how it handles the little things that matter when you’re traveling. Having kitchen access means you’re not stuck eating out for every single meal, which honestly saves both money and sanity during a longer stay. The apartment setup gives you options — sometimes you want to grab takeout from one of the local spots and eat like a normal person at an actual table. The recent guest rating of 8.3 for location tells you everything about how well-positioned this place is for actually experiencing DC rather than just surviving it.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a place that consistently delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. The 8.6 overall rating reflects guests who appreciate the authentic apartment experience over flashy hotel amenities they probably won’t use anyway. Couples especially seem drawn to the residential feel and the genuine neighborhood setting — it’s the kind of place where you can have a proper conversation over coffee in the morning without feeling like you’re performing for other hotel guests. Plus, that parking situation really can’t be overstated if you’re driving into the city.
Apartments in Washington suit policy nomads with cowork lofts, secure garages, and skyline balconies over Navy Yard.

The location was excellent we wanted somewhere close enough to the centre without being in it. The bus was really easy to use, my tip would be to drive nearer to 16th st and park if you don’t fancy the walk (it’s uphill and it was really hot 🥵)
the hop on hop off bus that goes round the monuments etc is really good too. Natasha was really helpful with all the information. We also went to the nearby zoo which was free if you didn’t park there. We were out and about a lot so didn’t spend much time in the apartment but it really was a home away from home with literally everything you needed.Anna from United States (9/10)
We stayed here at the end of September for three nights. Very convenient location – the downtown is only 3.5 miles away, you can even walk, not far from the beautiful Washigton Cathedral, the park is within walking distance. The apartment is very cozy, clean, has everything you need in the kitchen, beautiful and interesting game room. Natasha is a responsive and friendly hostess. We were very happy to meet her.

Laurie from United States (9/10)
The apartment is in a terrific location. Very clean and comfortable for 1-3 people. The sofa bed was exceptionally comfortable! The kitchen had everything we needed.
A plus was the huge adjourning game room with sofa and TV. While we didn’t use it, it adds a lot of space if you need it.
Note: the house is on a hill. There are multiple steps (with railing and motion detector lights), but it’s still a trek if you have any mobility issues.Anna from United States (9/10)
Charming home with lots of creative details. Location was perfect for our purpose.

Natasha is a great hostess. I liked the location and price to rent the space for the weekend. I love places like this and will always choose to spend my money with a local then pay money to a hotel chain. You get more of a personal experience and it feels more like home.
