The location on 15th Street NW is honestly one of the best things about this three-star hotel. You’re right in the thick of things in Washington — I mean, you can walk to the White House in about ten minutes, and the Metro stations are super close. What I really appreciate is that you’re close enough to all the major attractions that you won’t spend half your day commuting, but the street itself isn’t completely overrun with tourist crowds. The couples who stay here seem to really get it — there’s something romantic about being able to stroll to dinner and then walk back through the city at night.

The Room Experience

The room design follows that same thoughtful approach you see in the lobby. Everything feels intentional — from the lighting to the way the space is laid out. You know what I noticed? The beds are actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given at this price point. The bathrooms are clean and functional, though don’t expect a massive soaking tub or anything fancy. There’s decent storage space, and the windows let in good natural light during the day. It’s the kind of space where you can spread out your stuff and actually feel settled.

Practical Considerations

One thing that sets The Architect apart from some other downtown options is how they handle the practical stuff. The staff seems to know the neighborhood well — they can point you toward good coffee shops or tell you which Metro line will get you where you need to go fastest. The hotel doesn’t have a full-service restaurant, but honestly, with all the dining options within walking distance, that’s not really a problem. Plus, it keeps the costs down, which is always nice when you’re staying in the heart of DC.

  The Architect is a superbly located boutique hotel that has been around for over a century. On foot it's seconds to buses, minutes to the metro and just a few minutes more and you're at the White House! Rooms are quite small without fridge or microwave but there's so many good food options nearby I didn't mind. Shower is A+. My room was facing the street so a little noisy but not unbearably so. It's an old hotel with a lot of history – adjust your expectations accordingly. The location at this price point is simply unmatchable.
