Residence Inn by Marriott Arlington Ballston Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Residence Inn by Marriott Arlington Ballston, you immediately get that extended-stay vibe — but in the best possible way. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Arlington‘s Ballston neighborhood, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby feels modern without being sterile, and the staff actually seems to remember your name after a day or two, which is refreshing. The neighborhood offers excellent walkability with nearby dining and shopping options that enhance your stay.
The Suite Life
Here’s what I love about this place — every room is actually a suite with a full kitchen. I mean, we’re talking real appliances here, not some sad mini-fridge situation. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and guests consistently rave about the sleep quality. There’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped, and the living area has a couch that’s perfect for working on your laptop or decompressing after a long day exploring DC.
Location Perks
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? The Ballston Metro station is literally a few blocks away — I’m talking maybe a five-minute walk. That puts you about 15 minutes from downtown Washington DC by train, which beats dealing with traffic and parking headaches in the city. The neighborhood itself has this nice suburban feel with plenty of restaurants and a decent shopping mall right there. Couples seem to particularly love this area because it offers that sweet spot between urban access and residential calm.
Daily Essentials
The breakfast here is solid American fare served buffet-style — nothing fancy, but it gets the job done and saves you from hunting down coffee first thing in the morning. What I really appreciate is that they have private parking right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend in this area. You don’t realize how much stress that eliminates until you’re not circling blocks looking for a spot. The spa facilities are basic but clean, perfect for unwinding after walking around the monuments all day.
Why Guests Love It
This place consistently scores high with visitors, and after staying here, I get it. It’s that combination of practical amenities — seriously, having a full kitchen changes everything — a genuinely great location, and staff that actually cares about your experience. Recent guests who rated the location so highly aren’t wrong; you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually relax. For the price point, you’re getting way more space and functionality than a typical hotel room, plus the peace of mind that comes with the Marriott brand. The extended-stay concept truly sets this property apart from standard accommodations.

We weren’t able to make breakfast, our fault. However, everything from check in to check out was fabulous. No complaints.

The rooms were spacious and the breakfast had plenty of options. Covered parking was great for added security. Our kids liked the pool and it was so nice to have a lifeguard on duty. The staff at check in were incredibly friendly and super helpful.
